Community-Based Advocacy Network

In partnership with the Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA), PEDEP introduced a Community-Based Advocacy Network in 2004. This program empowered local community members to use advocacy as a tool for democratic empowerment and peaceful conflict resolution. Through workshops and grassroots engagement, the initiative built a network of informed advocates committed to fostering peace and justice in the Niger Delta.

Research on Small Arms Proliferation

Together with two other NGOs and support from Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), PEDEP conducted a comprehensive field survey on the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the Niger Delta. The findings were published in a report, providing critical insights into the drivers of armed violence and offering recommendations for disarmament and peacebuilding.

Workshops and Capacity-Building Programs

PEDEP has organized numerous workshops, including one on media and constitutional dialogue, aimed at strengthening the role of media in promoting peace and democracy. These capacity-building programs equip stakeholders, including journalists, community leaders, and youth, with the tools to advocate for peaceful and democratic solutions to conflicts.
