BARRISTER CHINUA ASUZU

BARRISTER CHINUA ASUZU, partner, Assizes Law Firm and Dean of The White House law resource centre. He studied law at the University of Ibadan and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1989. He is a researcher and expert in dispute resolution, law review, legislative drafting and law reform related advocacy.

Barrister Asuzu, a commissioner of the Tax Appeal Tribunal is author of several law resource books including: Brief-Writing Master Plan (Partridge, 2022); Fair Hearing in Nigeria (Malthouse, 2010); Judicial Writing: A Benchmark for the Bench (Partridge, 2016); Uncommon Law of Learned Writing (Partridge, 2023)

Barrister Asuzu’s keen interest and relentless engagement with law reform and social justice process in Nigeria have culminated in his partnership with the Nigeria Bar Association and other interest groups in championing the submission of memoranda to the national assembly and Lagos State House of Assembly on: ‘Sexual Offences and Public Nudity: Lagos Tenancy Bill 2010; Administration of Criminal Justice Bill 2010; Memorandum on Criminal Law 2010; Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules 2010; Federal High Court (AMCON) Practice Direction 2013; Court of Appeal (Fast Track: Practice Direction 2014.
